Panel Discussion “Institut für Föderalismus 1975-2025: Celebrating 50 Years of Research on Austrian Federalism”
On February 5th 2025, the Institute for Federalism hosted a panel discussion in Innsbruck on the topic “Institut für Föderalismus 1975-2025: Celebrating 50 Years of Research on Austrian Federalism”. After an introductory presentation by the Director of the institute Peter Bußjäger, the following experts engaged in an interesting discussion:

- Patricia Popelier, University of Antwerp, Belgium

The following two questions were discussed:
- Do centers for federal studies/does federalism scholarship have significant impact on the development of federalism in their respective countries?
- Does the international dialogue between scholars on federalism contribute to a better understanding of federal systems by learning lessons from each other? Are there any best practice cases?
After the panel discussion, the audience had the opportunity to ask further questions. The event concluded with a buffet.
